WorldRemit Money Transfer Reviews

Posted on March 30, 2020, 11:18 am

I used WorldRemit a couple of times before and had no issues until today, when I made a transaction I got a message in red that my transaction was not authorized by the bank and prompted me to try another way. I made another transaction using the same card and got the same message. I try to reach them and they said there’s no transaction successfully made and that I have to contact the Bank. I try again after 2 hours and still the same problem, when I try to change card the system made another transaction automatically, 2 more times. So I contacted my bank and they said the charges were successfully made. I was charged 5 times and I unfortunately I won’t be able to get the money back within a week. This is really frustrating.

Posted on March 28, 2020, 01:09 pm

Send $520 USD to Mexico yesterday. World Remit claims a 2-3 hour processing time for cash pickups in Mexico. It has been over 24 hours and the funds still are not available. After processing the payment, the receipt shows the money not being available for 5 days!! Their timelines are completely fictitious. I will not use this company again.

Posted on March 23, 2020, 12:52 pm

I was sending money outside the country and i was debit with the amount of 2000 Pounds but my worlremit account was closed and it said they gonna return the money back to my account in 2-3 days and i haven't get anything return to my bank account yet what is really going on

Please don’t waist your money or your time with this company. Use western union or any other company. I made a transaction 2 weeks ago from Canada to USA. The receiver has not yet received the money and I keep calling this company and they say that they can’t refund my money. They say that the transaction is pending because their local partner in US is doing some kind of verification. I called my bank and there is no issue on my bank side. The receiver called his bank and the bank said that they don’t see any pending transaction on their side. My question is who is the local partner of World Remit in US? Is their partner involved in money laundering which is a crime in US? Why does it take 2 weeks for a transaction when the banks on the sender and the receiver sides don’t have any issue? Why is this company refusing to cancel the transaction and refund my money? I m going to file a claim against World Remit at my Department of Business Oversight.

Posted on March 15, 2020, 05:12 am

Hiding poor service in the guise of compliance. We would all agree compliance for money laundering is very important. But it is simllybunacceotabke to fail to do a transfer for days even weeks due to a compliance check. Recipients need the money and cant wait days till some compliance team does it job.

WorldRemit is very unprofessional and the customer service is a joke. They hold one transaction 1 month without inform anything.

I used World Remit to send 1200 Euro on 4th Feb,2020 to a friend in urgent need of it. Its been a week and I am calling them and they say just one thing local agent not responding. Their customer service is very rude and they just say we cant do anything for you. I think I should involve police and Judiciary to file a case against this company in Japan. I need support from you guys in this, lets send me the proofs for your frauds on my email I am a lawyer and I think we can together file a very strong case against this company. Lets just shut this company down!

They shut down my account WITHOUT NOTICE and I am NEVER allowed to re-open it. I have been using them for months, and they offer NO explanation as to why my account was shut down and they did not offer me any way to talk to ANYONE about it. I understand they have security needs, but there was no way for me to authenticate myself. This is incredibly frustrating. This number is for the last transaction that I was able to make WITH MY OWN MONEY. I used to hold them in high regard, now I will never recommend them to anyone.

@WorldRemit fraudulent company. did 1st transaction 10 days ago. nowhere to put in no fee code then constant emails and texts that recipient bank info incorrect when it's all correct. they take your money right away but never send it. cust svc no help

I used WorldRemit a couple of times and had no issues until today, when I made a transaction I got a message in red that my transaction was not authorized by the bank and prompted me to try another way. I made another transaction using a different card and got the same message. Minutes later I got messages on my phone that both transactions were successful. This way I made 2 transactions instead of the 1 I intended. When I called the company they said it was my problem and that even if there was a technical problem the money was already sent and unless the recipient returns the money there's nothing they can do. Clearly they have a problem in their system getting the correct bank authorization notices. This is a MAJOR flaw for a company whose job is to make transactions! It created a mess for me, one they take no responsibility for. This is absurd. Customer service is very bad as well with bad line connections and largely unhelpful staff.

Posted on January 18, 2020, 04:18 pm

this is a borderline scam, falling behind we are regulated so we can't give you a reason why we took your money and banned your account. WorldRemit pay the money you owe me. then apologize for for your pathetic service. really your a joke of a company.

Posted on January 08, 2020, 07:40 pm

Shitty company. My first time trying to send someone money it was delayed, when I called customer service they essentially interrogated me before putting me on hold, then hanging up on me, and then further attempts to call them strangely didn't go through. Then I got an email saying the transfer was cancelled and my account closed, without explanation. I'm not sure what's going to happen to the funds, I don't think they every left my bank, but I'm probably going to have to pay credit card fees for nothing.

Posted on January 03, 2020, 11:35 am

This is my first transaction with WorldRemit. I used promo code 3FREE as a new customer so they will waive the the fees for my first 3 transfers. I put in the promo code but they still charged me the transaction fee despite that. I called their customer service, the female agent I spoke with was aggressive, insinuating that I lied about using the promo code, telling me that there was nothing they could do since the transfer had already been done. However, she offered me another promo code 4CSMT, which will waive my next transaction fee only, according to her. So, It appears to me that there's no such thing as Promo code 3FREE with WorldRemit. It seems that's just to lure in new customer and then offer you another code, which I am not even sure will work when i use it. So, new customers beware!

They cancelled my transaction was cancelled, and my account deactivated permanently after trying to use this service the very first time. Customer service on the phone was VERY hateful, the agent used an angry tone when I asked why this happened and would not give me a reason.

SCAM..AVOID!!!! YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY Transaction number :51497304. Please do not trust this company, they will hold your funds and never reimburse you. I have corresponded them innumerable times regarding my refund as they did not transfer the funds to the recipient. To my utter dismay, they are disregarding my emails and they purposely keep terminating the line connection when enquiring about the refund over the phone or come up with utterly absurd excuses as to how their local partners are holding the funds and technical issues are affecting the refund process..absolutely atrocious!. They claim that they refund will be processed within 7 working days, however I have been hearing different time frames from various customer representative, they are evidently lying as they do not intend to refund the money. If you are in the same situation as me then please take immediate action, I'm just about to report this to the action fraud police and my bank. There is no other way to get this resolved. I urge you to not use this transfer service, it's a scam.

The money got there but it took over a week the first time, and a 2nd time, 2 day, 3rd time it took 6 days. TERRIBLE considering I was told it would take a few seconds (each time). This may be the recipient bank that did the hold up and had to review my details (Carribean country), but this took far too long given I provided all the details very quickly. If they had service level agreements with banks in the recipient countries, and held them accountable for slow response times, then this would be resolved. DONT USE THEM unless you have no other choices and be prepared for a long wait. They make excuses that they need to verify your details and want to verify the source of your income. They did this to me on 2 transfers even though it was done on the first one already and the 3rd one followed not long after that. They had my passport and drivers license and still I had to provide bank statements and income statements. Now they have all this information about me. Private details yet they dont guarantee this information is kept private. They have your money and for all you know it will not be returned if you do not comply. For all I know, they are selling my details it to scammers. I really dont feel my personal information is safe but its too late, I already provided it in order to get the money to my recipient. They have no escalation process. Not recommended at all.

Horrible! I sent $465.00 to the Philippines on 12/09/19 and today is 12/12/19 and my recipient tried to pickup the money twice but they won't release it because the bank says there was an error on my name but on my receipt was written correctly. I regreted that I sent it this company. I been using XOOM and they were very efficient and it takes a minute or two after you hit send. You get a text message that it's ready to be picked up. My son got it in 10 minutes just the time to get to bank. I actually reported to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau here in USA. and will also report the to the California Dept. of Business Oversight.

HORRIBLE - This is to the point of being considered outright fraud. I needed to send over $1000 USD to a contact in West Africa for immediate pickup. Vital timing. We followed online instructions to a T. It has now been 10 days, I have spent HOURS on the phone, exchanged DOZENS of emails, with WorldRemit people, including multiple escalations, and followed precisely every bit of instruction. WORLDREMIT still holds MY money, the recipient is unable to pick-up, they say it'll take ANOTHER WEEK to process a cancellation/refund. THIS IS A SCAM. AVOID IT. USE ANOTHER SERVICE.

my account was hacked by someone in Nigeria, and he stole $400 and transferred them to his account in Nigeria. worldremit approved it and when I contacted them all they did is de-activate my account, but they won't return the money back!! I contacted the fraud dept and they won't even return my emails. BS!! don't fall for them , there service is full of hackers and scammers, and no security..

This service is horrible at representing their clientele. They blame everything on their "local partner" but won't allow direct contact with that partner. All they do is relate what the partner requires without explanation or interpretation. I have responded almost immediately to every request that has changed or escalated every day or two over the course of two and a half weeks. Since my wife in Costa Rica depends on the money I send every month this has become very frustrating. The "apologies for the inconvenience" are disingenous. I have requested a cancellation so that I can arrange to send the money another way but am informed that even IF the transfer can be cancelled, it will take 7 business days for the money to be returned to my account. If that happens, I will essentially provided them with an interest-free loan for a month. In the meantime by wife has no money to buy food and is facing eviction from our home. After reading the other reviews it amazes me that this service is still in business.

Posted on October 02, 2019, 07:10 am

They do not refund money once you cancel the transfer. I am still fighting to get my money back. Will update on this later. But just wanted to make you all aware if you cancel the transfer they keep the money.

How and where do total idiots like Kelly Wagner writing for finder get their information?? Anybody? Worldremit is the most horrid, unhelpful, unresponsive, corrupt service of any of these listed; having tried them all. They clearly side with terrorism and outright murder of the innocent civilians in East Ukraine and regions of world. They without any reason or on a whim decide when they will and when they wont execute a transfer. There is absolutely no reason behind their very narrow minded arrogance particularly where it is absolutely nothing that the US Department of Treasury has instructed or encouraged on the official US government sites. No, you will never get confirmation that persons actually get the money and there are no security provisions on their part to keep transmissions away from terrorists and murderers. If you try to find out where their pickup locations are, you will never find them, but they assure and insure that they deliver? ???? They are clearly and intentionally supporting terrorism, murder and human trafficing around the world. Please join me in a class action against this heinous extreme corrupt supposedly money transfer service!!!!((((

I am pissed off with WorldRemit service! I have followed the instructions on the FAQ page and prepared the bank documents for the colleagues of the WorldRemit to investigate my case and hopefully would like to get my refund back. However, it took almost 1 month to just investigate my case and their colleagues, always changing the person who contacts me about the case, always asking me to provide the same thing again and again. Since their colleagues contacting me always change and they specify that their company would not keep customers' bank record so I was like providing my bank statement to their colleagues, who called themselves 'experts', every time when contacting through email nearly every day and just like a loophole that never ends. Few weeks before, the 'experts' said the refund was successfully processed, however, the refund had never been made to my account. They are just deceiving people! So if any of you using their service, please continue, but be careful not to get a refund because they are trying their best by using their colleagues to let you get annoyed and give up on the refund!

Worldremit has the worst customer service. Just cancelled my transfer to Colombia . I made a transfer a week ago my recipient still hasn’t be able to collected each time he goes they tell him it’s not showing on the other I had called worldremit and they never seem to have an answer. They can’t give an address where my recipient can go and for sure get the money. The customers service reps that I had talked are sooo rude and instead of giving an answer they get mad and their only is to google it. Why do I have to google or call Colombian when my deal was with Worldremit????????????And the telephone number that they provide for Colombia it’s out of service . So not only my recipient waisted time and money in transportation to collect it but also now I have to wait at least three days to get my refund. What a waist of time!

I will never ever send my money through world remit. They have had my money now for 2 weeks.. have they sent it NO. Have they refunded it NO. This is the worst transfer money app I have ever come across.. they have suspended my account and taken my money. I need that money to be sent to the receiver I gave you or you refund back to my account with authorisation code ... today would be good...

Complete absolute crap companie! They are scamming their customer with their high fee and low exchange rate!! You have better alternative like Xoom or Transferwise: better service and a lot cheaper

Posted on July 31, 2019, 10:02 am

0 stars. Beware from this company. They can send money to a bank account that does not even exist and send you the receipt and refuse to refund.

Posted on July 20, 2019, 02:51 am

... why so many stars, where is the negative option? this service is horrid with absolutely zero accountability. 'Rating: 4.5 - ?Review by Kelly Waggoner' - yeah right, she obviously hasnt read any of this, or how did google play come or with 4.5 and apple play 4.8, when this transfer service major sucks!!!! if you check their site, they have zero offices in the states and they refuse to list where one can pickup in most of their foreign countries. you never get confirmation that the real folks actually get anything, always lots of cash fees they dont merit and finally if you communicate with them, its days and days and more days only to find out they didnt do anything and in many cases your transfers end up in the wrong hands. if thats not enough they have audacity to blame you the poor customer who alerted them over and over again of their mistake. ... again where are the negative stars?? Use this service with extreme fear and trepidation, if even that. thanks.

Oscar Morales
Posted on May 22, 2019, 04:44 pm

0 stars This is a scam. They take your money first, then claim you do not meet requirements to be a customer. When asked about what's lacking they claim they are legally prohibited from telling you. This is a great way for them to hold on to your money for 2-3 days. They scam a few hundred people a day for a few hundred dollars each, and wham! all of a sudden it's real money. How stupid is a company that takes your money first and then "checks your application"? Quite stupid, in fact, because people that have been stung like I was will never, ever use this company. I have an elderly uncle that just moved from U.S. to Mexico to retire, and his family here in the U.S. will definitely NOT use this crappy company to send him money. Somebody else will reap the benefits, definitely not WorldRemit. You'd think they'd be smart enough to "check the application" first before submitting withdraw request to your bank or credit card account. If they're legit, they would reduce their pissed-off customer count to zero by using simple logic. But, nooooo, they put a claim on your money first, then "check your application". That's a scam. Fúck them all to hell.

They received my money and then closed my account. The money would be for my birthday's mom May 22rd, tomorrow and they said will refund it in "3 days". They are not legally. They take the money before verify the client. I am very angry.

WorldRemit… Terrible customer service, I am a new client my niece referred me to used WordRemit When I send money I forgot to enter the referral number to get the rewards, I call customer service if they can enter reversed to get the referral, He said fortunately they can’t do nothing about it, I request to talk there supervisor and I was on hold for 20 minutes, he came back he said there’s is no supervisor available, later I called back again the same excuse from the customer service that she said there’s no supervisor available. The huge difference for example between WorldRemit and Western Union is, that Western Union cares about their customers and you feel appreciated and if something goes wrong, they take very good care of you. Please....Stay away from WorldRemit bad company and customer service,

Signed up to send money to a friend in Jordan. Worldremit took my money and then canceled the transaction and closed my account right away. They claim that they are not "legally" able to tell me why. I believe that they are afraid to do business with the US because of the stringent anti-money laundering, anti-terrorism and FATCA regulations foisted upon them by the US government. It raises the question: is American free?

I absolutely HATE this app. I was accused of perpetrating a SCAM while trying to send money to my soon to be daughter in law who lives in Nairobi Kenya. I strongly feel that there is a prejudice with regard to sending money to that country. They barred me from ever doing business with them and disabled my account. They have yet to refund my money to me, so they will have an even bigger problem with me if they don't. Please, if you live in the U.S., don't bother using this app to send money to Africa. I should have read the reviews first. I would give them less than zero if I could.

Posted on March 21, 2019, 12:51 am

Terrible customer service, they closed my account and could not give me any reason for closing it. Everytime I call customer service I am put on hold only to have the agent hang up or tell me the department that can solve the problem is closed. This is absolute nonsense and disrespect of clients. Over email they sound like robots, absolutely disturbing.

Posted on February 28, 2019, 07:49 am

Ditto on Vimal. Tried to send a measly $100 to a friend in Uganda. Transaction (my first with them) cancelled and account frozen. “Customer service “ says they can’t divulge the reason. I have bought things from a number of other countries without a problem—I’m now scared I’m going to have difficulty getting the money back. Should have taken negative reviews more seriously. This is seriously annoying and stupid. Have to give a one star—can’t give a triple zero.

Avoid WorldRemit. If you send money through them, you will have surprising and hidden charges by your bank such as CASH ADVANCE FEE, CASH ADVANCE etc. Worst experience with them.
