Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the website nri.up.gov.in, a one-stop-portal recently. The portal will help connect the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to their roots, resolve their problems, and will help boost tourism and investment in the state. He said the platform would not only start important engagement but also build partnerships with its diaspora population to take an active role in the development of the state.
NRIs make a significant contribution to the Indian Economy, Uttar Pradesh is one of the top recipients of remittances from abroad from its NRI population. Remittances have lifted many households from poverty and continue to support many areas of development such as education and healthcare.
As more and more NRIs adopt formal channels of sending money, government bodies and money transfer service providers are able to offer better infrastructure to facilitate accessibility and better service.
