I am in USA, a citizen. I have Indian currency of about Rs.35000.00. Myself and wife are going India in 2 weeks. Can I take this amount with us to India. And if I declare about this, what the custom people may question on the air port?

Any person resident in India, who had gone out of India on a temporary visit, may bring into India at the time of his return from any place outside India (other than from Nepal and Bhutan), currency notes of Government of India and Reserve Bank of India notes up to an amount not exceeding Rs. 25,000 (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand only) per person. You may be able to carry it to India and will have to declare the money exceeding Rs. 10,000 on the customs form
